St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1 and HitecVision, combining expertise and resources to drive innovation in the biomethane sector. Our goal is to become the leading integrated biomethane provider in the Nordics, playing a vital role in the energy transition. We cover the entire value chain – from feedstock sourcing to distribution and end-user sales – with a strong emphasis on heavy transport, maritime, and industrial sectors.
To support this ambitious growth, we are investing over EUR 1 billion in biomethane production and distribution infrastructure across the Nordics, with several large-scale projects already in progress.

Shipping is entering a decisive decade. FuelEU Maritime is reshaping incentives and compliance requirements across European shipping, while the IMO’s net-zero direction is accelerating the transition toward low- and zero-carbon fuels. Liquefied Biogas (LBG) is a scalable drop-in pathway for immediate emissions reductions, and St1 Biokraft is building the production and distribution capability to lead this shift in the Nordics.
We are now looking for a commercially sharp and strategically minded Head of Marine to lead the development of our marine business. This is a business development role with high autonomy and a clear mandate: identify the right customers, shape the commercial approach, build the partnerships, and help create the infrastructure and logistics needed to make LBG a practical, bankable fuel choice for shipping companies.
The role is part of our Value Chain – Business Development organisation and reports to the Head of Business Development. Location is flexible: Malmö, Stockholm, or Helsinki, with regular travel to meet customers and stakeholders and to participate in key industry forums.
About the Role
As Head of Marine, you will develop and execute St1 Biokraft’s commercial strategy for marine customers — primarily shipping companies affected by FuelEU Maritime requirements and other regulatory demands. You will operate at the intersection of commercial deal-making, regulatory-driven value creation, and complex operational enablement.
Success requires a blend of market credibility, structured business development, and the ability to orchestrate internal and external stakeholders to move opportunities from concept to execution.
You will:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities for LBG within the marine sector, aligned with FuelEU Maritime regulations and IMO net-zero targets
Build strong customer and partner relationships, engaging shipping companies and relevant ecosystem stakeholders across the value chain
Translate regulatory and sustainability drivers into commercial value, including carbon reduction mechanisms, pooling concepts, and compliance-relevant deal structures
Monitor market dynamics and regulatory developments related to FuelEU Maritime, IMO targets, LBG/LNG, and broader sustainability trends to refine strategy and prioritisation
Oversee the development of infrastructure and logistics chains required for the distribution and utilisation of LBG in the marine sector, in close collaboration with internal teams and external partners
Lead stakeholder collaboration across policy, legal, trading, operations and project functions to enable smooth implementation of projects and services
Represent St1 Biokraft externally in customer meetings, industry events, and strategic dialogues that shape market direction
What You Bring
We are looking for a candidate who combines commercial drive with a solid understanding of shipping realities and the energy transition landscape.
Qualifications and experience:
Master’s degree (MSc) or equivalent in a relevant field
Proven experience in the shipping industry
Experience with LNG is considered meritorious; experience with biomethane and renewable energy solutions is a strong advantage
Capabilities and knowledge:
Strong strategic thinking and business development skills, with a clear focus on sustainability and regulation-driven markets
In-depth understanding of carbon reduction strategies, pooling concepts, and how compliance frameworks affect commercial decisions
Ability to drive and coordinate complex infrastructure and logistics development involving multiple stakeholders and interdependencies
A structured and credible communicator who can engage both C-level customer counterparts and specialist functions internally
