A Powerful Partnership
St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1 and HitecVision, combining expertise and resources to drive innovation in the biomethane sector. Our goal is to become the leading integrated biomethane provider in the Nordics, playing a vital role in the energy transition. We cover the entire value chain – from feedstock sourcing to distribution and end-user sales – with a strong emphasis on heavy transport, maritime, and industrial sectors.
To support this ambitious growth, we are investing over EUR 1 billion in biomethane production and distribution infrastructure across the Nordics, with several large-scale projects already in progress.
St1 Biokraft operates a biogas production facility at Högbytorp, Upplands-Bro, Stockholm. The facility includes reception and pre-treatment of feedstock, anaerobic digestion, and biogas upgrading. The digestate is further processed into both liquid and solid biofertiliser. The site also includes gas compression and trailer-filling facilities.
Operations & Maintenance Engineer
We are now looking to strengthen our team with an additional resource who can contribute both broad and deep technical expertise and support operations, maintenance, and asset management activities as needed.
About the role
As an Operations & Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with the Site Manager and Operations Technicians in the day-to-day activities of the plant, while primarily focusing on technical matters. The pace can be high, and the challenges vary both in complexity and across different technical systems. Your time will be divided between long-term strategic work and more urgent operational tasks, and occasional support to the team outside regular working hours may be required.
Key Responsibilities
· Drive the continuous development and optimisation of the site’s maintenance strategy, balancing operational reliability and cost efficiency.
· Take responsibility for advanced troubleshooting and root cause analyses, primarily related to the plant’s technical systems and installations.
· Initiate, lead, and manage operational optimisation projects.
· In collaboration with the site team, initiate and lead improvement and modification projects.
· Support and manage interactions with suppliers and business partners in both national and international environments.
· Provide operational and maintenance support to the team whenever required.
· Act as Deputy Site Manager during periods of absence, taking responsibility for planning, organising, and leading operations and maintenance activities.
· Support the development of annual plans, including business development initiatives, operations and maintenance budgets, and operational forecasts.
· Drive continuous improvements related to regulatory compliance and internal standards, including environmental, health & safety, fire protection, physical security, pressure vessel safety, gas safety, and electrical safety requirements.
· Serve as Deputy Gas Safety Manager (Deputy Gas Responsible Person).
· Participate in the site’s on-call duty rotation.
Who You Are
We are looking for someone with several years of experience in operations and maintenance, preferably within the process industry or energy sector. You hold a relevant university degree or have acquired equivalent competence through practical experience.
If you have extensive experience as an Operations Technician within the process or energy industry and feel ready to take the next step in your career, this role offers significant opportunities for professional development. You should be comfortable working both independently and with the team on hands-on maintenance work when required.
You are a proactive individual who works effectively both independently and as part of a team. You can easily switch between short-term operational challenges and long-term strategic initiatives. You enjoy troubleshooting at every level and are motivated by identifying and implementing sustainable solutions. Your technical profile is broad, complemented by deeper expertise in selected relevant areas.
Humility, self-awareness, and a low-prestige mindset are essential qualities for success in this role. You are generous in sharing your knowledge and experience while remaining open to learning from others. Taking on operational tasks when needed is viewed as a natural part of the role rather than an obligation.
As a person, you are responsible, well-organised, highly engaged, and possess excellent collaboration skills. The role involves extensive interaction with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills are also important, allowing you to translate technical expertise into practical solutions.
You have a genuine desire to develop and improve working methods and processes. You are flexible with working hours when necessary and willing to participate in the site’s on-call rotation. You communicate effectively in both Swedish and English, verbally and in writing.
