Plant Operation Manager, Mönsterås

A Powerful Partnership
St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1 and HitecVision, combining expertise and resources to drive innovation in the biomethane sector. Our goal is to become the leading integrated biomethane provider in the Nordics, playing a vital role in the energy transition. We cover the entire value chain – from feedstock sourcing to distribution and end-user sales – with a strong emphasis on heavy transport, maritime, and industrial sectors.
To support this ambitious growth, we are investing over EUR 1 billion in biomethane production and distribution infrastructure across the Nordics, with several large-scale projects already in progress.
Plant Operations Manager, St1 Biokraft, Mönsterås
Lead operations at a key biomethane production site in St1 Biokraft’s growing Nordic platform. Bring people, process and technology together to strengthen operational discipline, plant reliability and continuous improvement — and help shape the operating standards that will support our continued growth.
Mönsterås plays an important role in our production network and in the continued development of St1 Biokraft’s integrated biomethane platform. Having progressed through project development, technical ramp-up and operational transition, the site is now entering its next phase, with a continued focus on operational maturity, reliability and long-term industrial performance.
About the Role
Biomethane production is a connected system. Feedstock availability, substrate planning, process stability, logistics, maintenance, gas production, digestate handling, suppliers and local stakeholders all influence operational performance. You do not need to know every technical detail from day one, but you need the curiosity, judgement and industrial experience to understand how the system works — and what questions need to be asked before decisions are made.
As Plant Operations Manager, you will take on a key site leadership role with overall responsibility for asset operations and maintenance at site level. A central part of the role is to develop the site’s daily operating model. This involves strengthening planning and follow-up, clarifying ways of working, and building clear ownership within the site organisation. You will ensure that operations, maintenance and process expertise are closely aligned with key interfaces, including feedstock planning, logistics, suppliers and central functions — fostering the collaboration and understanding needed to drive reliable plant performance.
You will work closely with the Regional Manager, process specialists, maintenance resources, feedstock and logistics functions, HSEQ, project resources and external suppliers. You will act as the link between the business's strategic direction and the practical realities of running a complex production site every day.
The role reports to the Regional Manager and is based at the Mönsterås site.
What You Bring
We are looking for a site leader who combines operational leadership with technical understanding, people leadership and sound business judgement.
You know how to run industrial operations where safety, production, maintenance, people and cost must be managed together. You are comfortable being close to the operation, asking practical questions, making fact-based decisions and creating structure without slowing the organisation down.
You may come from biogas, energy, process industry, utilities, food production, chemicals, pulp and paper, wastewater, recycling or another industrial environment where complex operations, technical reliability and safe production are central.
Qualifications and experience
Relevant technical education, preferably within engineering, process, production, maintenance or similar. Equivalent practical industrial experience may also be relevant.
Proven leadership experience from industrial operations, production, maintenance or site management.
Experience leading teams in an operational environment with high demands on safety, reliability and structure.
Strong understanding of daily operations, maintenance planning and production follow-up.
Good technical understanding and the ability to engage in discussions about equipment, processes, downtime, maintenance risk, and operational consequences.
Experience working with HSEQ requirements in an industrial or process-related environment.
Experience managing operational costs, maintenance priorities, supplier interfaces and resource allocation.
Ability to translate business goals into practical site-level priorities.
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, logistics, commercial, HSEQ or project functions.
Highly valued experience
Biogas, biomethane, energy, utilities, wastewater, chemical, food, pulp and paper or related process industries.
Experience from plants in ramp-up, commissioning, handover or operational development phases.
Experience working with both operations and maintenance in technically complex environments.
Experience managing external suppliers, contractors or technical service providers.
Experience building daily management systems, maintenance structures or improvement routines.
Experience from circular production flows, feedstock/substrate handling or operations with strong dependency on logistics and external partners.
Experience leading teams through change, growth or operational improvement phases.
We believe you are
You are a present, steady and pragmatic leader who creates trust through clarity, consistency and genuine engagement. You understand that strong site leadership is not only about setting direction, but also about being close enough to the operation to understand what is really happening.
You are technically curious and industrially mature. You do not need to be the deepest specialist in every area, but you know how to ask the right control questions, understand the consequences, and make sure decisions are safe, fact-based, and commercially sound. You have enough technical confidence to challenge assumptions, involve the right expertise and avoid becoming dependent on individual specialists.
You are structured without being bureaucratic. You know how to create rhythm in daily operations through clear meetings, follow-up, action ownership, maintenance planning and performance management. You bring order where needed, while respecting the knowledge, experience and commitment already present in the team.
You are a strong communicator who can build bridges between site, regional management, process specialists, logistics, feedstock, project teams, suppliers and central functions. You understand that a production site cannot perform in isolation. Success depends on collaboration across the full value chain.
Above all, you bring the calm, judgement and leadership needed to help Mönsterås continue its development as a reliable, efficient and high-performing production site.

What We Offer
This is an opportunity to take on a central site leadership role in a rapidly growing biomethane company with strong ownership backing, significant investment capacity and a genuine commitment to accelerating the energy transition.
You will lead a strategically important production site at a time when operational excellence is becoming a key success factor for our growth. Your leadership will directly influence plant performance, safety culture, employee engagement, cost efficiency and the long-term development of the Mönsterås operation.
This is a role for someone who is motivated by building structure, developing people, strengthening operations and creating sustainable performance over time. You will have the opportunity to make a visible impact — on the site, on the organisation and on the future of renewable energy production in the Nordics.
Most importantly, you will work with committed colleagues who care deeply about the plant, the business and the role biomethane can play in the energy transition.
