A Powerful Partnership
St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1, HitecVision, and Aneo—combining deep industrial expertise and resources to accelerate the energy transition through biogas and biomethane. Our ambition is to become the leading integrated biogas player in the Nordics and a trusted partner for customers seeking scalable, low-carbon energy solutions. We cover the entire value chain—from feedstock sourcing to production, distribution, and end-user sales—and have set ambitious targets: 3 TWh of biomethane production and 6 TWh of biomethane sales by 2030.
To reach these goals, we are investing more than EUR 1 billion across the Nordics. Several major growth projects are underway, and our digital and operational footprint is expanding rapidly. In this context, cyber security and information security are not support functions—they are business-critical capabilities that enable safe growth, resilience, and trust.
Legal Counsel Commercial Contracts & Compliance, St1 Biokraft, Stockholm
Join our Legal team to drive commercial contracting and support compliance as we scale — enabling fast, business-driven decisions that balance risk and reward.
St1 Biokraft is growing fast — signing new contracts, expanding our production footprint, strengthening our trading and sales portfolio, and professionalising our operations as we scale. To support this, we are now expanding our Legal team and are looking for a business-minded Legal Counsel to support a broad portfolio of commercial contracts, with the opportunity to also contribute to compliance ways of working. This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the business: enabling deals, balancing risk and reward, and building a structure that makes the organisation faster and safer.
What you will do
This is not a traditional “back-office legal reviewer” role. Instead, it is a business partner role in which you help the organisation move faster by providing clear recommendations, pragmatic solutions, and sound judgment. In this role, you will join a committed and highly competent Legal team supporting the entire St1 Biokraft group. You will report to the Head of Legal and work closely with stakeholders across Commercial, Trading, Procurement, Operations, Sustainability, Finance and IT/Security.
Your mission is clear: to strengthen our Legal team’s commercial contracting capability by partnering with the business and taking responsibility for the legal work in your matters — while working alongside colleagues with complementary expertise in projects and construction law.
You will draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
B2B sales/customer contracts
Trading-related agreements and related commercial arrangements
Feedstock sourcing and supplier agreements
Procurement contracts (goods and services, framework agreements and key supplier terms)
Collaboration/partnership agreements, NDAs and other day-to-day legal matters
In a typical month, you will spend most of your time negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, advising stakeholders on live business issues, and strengthening the legal tools and ways of working that make contracting faster, clearer and more consistent.
You will also contribute to standardisation across the legal function and St1 Biokraft’s value chain, and help strengthen the ways of working that a fast-growing industrial company needs, including templates, clause libraries, playbooks, and pragmatic contracting processes, as well as the development of AI-driven legal tools and workflows that accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
In addition, you will support selected compliance-related topics as needed, with a stronger focus in 2026 as we develop, implement, and roll out training across the organisation on an updated compliance framework. Thereafter, you will primarily handle ad hoc compliance questions and refresher training.
What you bring
We expect you to have at least 5 years of relevant experience, either in a law firm or in an in-house legal role, and to be comfortable managing commercial matters independently. You likely recognise yourself in the following:
Education: LL.M. / Swedish law degree
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, with the ability to lead matters independently end-to-end
Business mindset: You understand that the “best legal answer” is not always the best business solution — and you know how to balance risk, speed and value
Pragmatism and structure: You are senior enough to run matters independently, and you know when a pragmatic 80/20 approach is the right call — and when a topic requires deeper work and attention to detail.
Communication: You can explain legal topics in plain language and build trust with stakeholders. Since many matters are governed by Swedish law and handled with Swedish counterparts, fluency in Swedish and strong knowledge of Swedish legislation and legal practice are required. English is required.
Our culture and how you fit in
At St1 Biokraft, we like to say that we are one team with one dream, working towards one result. Our values are important to us, and in this role, you will have plenty of opportunities to live them in practice:
Be Collaborative by working across sites, functions, and countries, supporting colleagues, and sharing knowledge so we succeed together.
Be Open by being curious, transparent, and eager to learn, embracing change, and engaging in honest, constructive dialogue when things do not go as planned.
Be Commercial by thinking and acting like an entrepreneur: enabling fast, fact-based decisions that balance risk and reward and drive sustainable growth.
Be the Expert by taking ownership of your scope, providing sound legal advice with integrity, working closely with operations and continuously building your capabilities to deliver high-quality.
If you recognise yourself in this, you will likely thrive with us.
Why join St1 Biokraft?
Because this is not a “steady-state legal role”, — it is a chance to help shape the legal foundation of a company scaling fast in a market that is being built right now. In short: you will help build something that matters — and you will see the impact of your work.
