A Powerful Partnership
St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1, HitecVision, and Aneo—combining deep industrial expertise and resources to accelerate the energy transition through biogas and biomethane. Our ambition is to become the leading integrated biogas player in the Nordics and a trusted partner for customers seeking scalable, low-carbon energy solutions. We cover the entire value chain—from feedstock sourcing to production, distribution, and end-user sales—and have set ambitious targets: 3 TWh of biomethane production and 6 TWh of biomethane sales by 2030.
To reach these goals, we are investing more than EUR 1 billion across the Nordics. Several major growth projects are underway, and our digital and operational footprint is expanding rapidly. In this context, cyber security and information security are not support functions—they are business-critical capabilities that enable safe growth, resilience, and trust.
Shape the Future of Sustainable Energy – Sustainability Compliance Manager (Finland), St1 Biokraft
As our Sustainability Compliance Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring that St1 Biokraft’s Finnish biogas production operations and related trading activities adhere to all relevant EU directives (RED III), national legislation, and certification schemes. This is a practical, hands-on operational role that impacts the business end-to-end – from our production sites in Finland to our trading and commercial teams and strategic partners across the Nordics.
Together with your colleagues in the sustainability team, you will drive the development of certification processes and support new business opportunities through deep regulatory expertise.
Location: You can be based in Finland or based in Stockholm, provided you are prepared to travel regularly to our Finnish sites and, when needed, to other Nordic locations. The role reports to the Head of Sustainability.
Your Responsibilities
Ensure Compliance and Drive Process Excellence
Ensure compliance with EU and Finnish sustainability legislation and applicable certification schemes for biogas and biofertiliser (e.g., RED III, ISCC, REDcert and relevant national requirements).
Lead and coordinate internal and external audits, inspections, and risk assessments related to sustainability and certification.
Manage reporting to relevant Finnish authorities and other stakeholders, ensuring high quality, timely submissions and robust documentation.
Continuously enhance internal processes, procedures, and control systems to meet regulatory and certification requirements across the value chain.
Empower the Organisation
Provide training and guidance across the company on sustainability criteria, mass-balance principles, traceability, and certification requirements.
Collaborate closely with production, trading, logistics, feedstock, and export teams to ensure a seamless compliance strategy from sourcing to the end customer.
Actively support certification efforts across our Nordic footprint, with a primary focus on Finland.
Enable Growth Through Regulation
Contribute to new business opportunities by analysing legislation and identifying ways to utilise regulatory frameworks and market mechanisms.
Ensure that biomethane trading and cross-border flows comply with sustainability standards, documentation requirements, and reporting requirements.
Serve as a key adviser to management on how sustainability and policy developments impact strategic and operational decisions.
Who Are You
You likely possess a university degree (BSc or MSc) in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related scientific field. You bring substantial experience in sustainability certification for biogas, regulatory audits, and reporting, preferably from working with schemes such as ISCC or REDcert. You have a solid understanding of the EU Renewable Energy Directives (RED II/RED III) and can navigate complex legislative texts with ease.
Professional fluency in English is essential. Finnish proficiency is mandatory, and knowledge of Finnish regulatory reporting and sustainability requirements is a plus. Swedish is a plus.

Experience with EU voluntary certification systems (e.g., ISCC, REDcert)
Background in biogas/energy trading, cross-border flows, and export documentation
Knowledge of Finnish regulatory reporting and sustainability requirements
Experience with biofertiliser/digestate certification and product compliance
