From Finland to the Nordics: drive hands-on HR that enables plant growth, performance and compliance in a fast-scaling energy company.
We usually respond within two weeks
A Powerful Partnership
St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1 and HitecVision, combining expertise and resources to drive innovation in the biomethane sector. Our goal is to become the leading integrated biomethane provider in the Nordics, playing a vital role in the energy transition. We cover the entire value chain – from feedstock sourcing to distribution and end-user sales – with a strong emphasis on heavy transport, maritime, and industrial sectors.
To support this ambitious growth, we are investing over EUR 1 billion in biomethane production and distribution infrastructure across the Nordics, with several large-scale projects already in progress.
Senior HR Business Partner, Finland & Nordics, St1 Biokraft | Helsinki (preferred) or Stockholm (if Finnish-speaking)
Make Nordic growth work through hands-on HR — from Finland operations to scalable processes across St1 Biokraft.
Why this role matters
St1 Biokraft is scaling fast. We are building and operating biogas production and distribution across the Nordics – and expanding further. This means growth, complexity, and real delivery pressure. It also means that HR must align with operations and business priorities.
We are hiring a Senior HR Business Partner who can combine a hands-on operational HR delivery in Finland (including our Joint Venture Suomen Lantakaasu) with Nordic process ownership and continuous improvement. This is a role for someone who enjoys building structure, solving practical problems, and creating trust through execution.
You will report to our Head of HR and work closely with a small HR team. You will also collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, HSE, Sustainability and Communication, and collaborate with the wider St1 HR organisation.
What you will do
You will be the day-to-day HR partner for managers and employees in Finland. The work is operational and requires good judgment and structure. You will own core processes and casework end-to-end, with a strong focus on compliance and manager enablement.
Your main scope in Finland will include:
Acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees on everyday HR matters (contracts, working time, leave, benefits, performance, wellbeing, conduct and absences)
Driving employee relations casework independently: investigations, corrective actions, documentation and follow-up
Supporting organisational change locally (role changes, restructuring, consultations and communication)
Driving recruitment together with hiring managers (workforce planning, role design, selection, offers and onboarding)
Running onboarding/offboarding and ensuring documentation, systems and data quality are accurate and timely
Executing annual people processes locally (performance review, salary review, talent discussions, engagement follow-up)
Ensuring compliance with Finnish labour law, collective agreements, internal policies and JV governance
You will also build effective working relationships with occupational health, payroll (an external partner), employee representatives, and other relevant partners.
Nordic HR topics & ways of working
In parallel, you will contribute to – and in selected areas own – Nordic HR topics that enable scale. This is where you help standardise, simplify and improve.
Typical contributions include:
Developing and improving HR ways of working, templates, playbooks and manager tools
Supporting the rollout and adoption of Nordic HR initiatives through communication and training
Helping embed the St1 Biokraft culture: , and our cornerstones Be Collaborative – Be the Expert – Be Commercial – Be Open
Delivering HR analytics and insights that support decision-making
Ensuring GDPR compliant handling of people data and strong discipline in HR systems
Business partnering & leadership support
You will work closely with leaders to translate business plans into people plans. That includes coaching managers in practical leadership, strengthening performance conversations, and contributing to organisational design and capability planning as the business grows.
Location & ways of working
Preferred base is Helsinki. Stockholm is an alternative if you are Finnish-speaking and can cover Finland effectively. We value collaboration and in-office presence, but we focus on outcomes. Nordic collaboration is part of the role; expect regular cross-border interaction and occasional travel.
Who we think will thrive here
This role is for you if you are structured and pragmatic, comfortable in complexity, and motivated by outcomes. You enjoy balancing hands-on operational delivery with building scalable HR foundations that enable growth.
Core experience
Several years of broad HRBP / HR generalist experience, including building, implementing and continuously improving core HR processes with strong hands-on delivery.
Strong working knowledge of Finnish labour law and relevant collective agreements – with proven experience leading union/employee representative consultations and negotiations, including organisational change, changes to terms, discipline and exits.
Experience in a process industry or similar operational environment, with the ability to support both operations and knowledge functions across the full employee lifecycle, and to handle day-to-day people matters with confidence.
A track record of building and implementing practical HR toolkits (e.g., onboarding, performance, Employee Relations, salary review) that become the standard way of working for managers.
Experience supporting organisational change and recruitment in operational environments.
Confidence working with HR data, KPIs and HR systems – and improving data quality and reporting.
Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence leaders without formal authority.
Fluency in Finnish and English (Swedish is an advantage).
Must-have capabilities
To succeed in this role, you have proven experience in:
Working time topics (e.g., overtime, on call) and end-to-end absence and rehabilitation case management.
Driving recruitment for hard-to-fill operational and technical roles, and improving outcomes (pipeline quality, time-to-hire, offer acceptance, onboarding readiness).
Coaching managers through performance management, conflict situations and corrective action processes – with strong documentation discipline.
Strong merit
Experience working in a joint venture, multi-owner setup, or a portfolio company governance model (or equivalent complexity).
What success looks like
Finland HR delivery is stable: cases handled timely, consistently and compliantly
Managers feel supported and sharpened in core people leadership practices
Nordic HR processes are documented, adopted and improved with measurable impact
HR data and reporting are reliable and used in decision-making
You build trust through delivery – with managers, employees and stakeholders
