Business Development Manager Germany, Capelon
We are now recruiting a Business Development Manager to lead the expansion of our smart outdoor lighting platform across Europe, with a particular focus on Germany. This is no ordinary position—it’s an opportunity to build something from the ground up in Germany. You will be the linchpin, setting the direction and driving expansion forward, empowered with trust and the freedom to make an impact. You will have the mandate to build market presence, cultivate partnerships and shape the organisation for success.

Who Are You
If you’re a strategic business builder with a passion for smart city solutions and climate action, let’s talk! We are looking for someone with 15+ years of experience in business development or solution sales, including at least 5 years in B2B and IT services. Experience selling to the public sector is an added advantage. You bring with you an understanding of large company environments and are familiar with processes and structure, yet you also thrive in entrepreneurial settings where you can take significant responsibility, especially when it comes to building new business and relationships in the German market – particularly with municipal clients and other relevant partners.
You have proven experience leading market entry or expansion initiatives, preferably in smart cities, IoT, or energy efficiency. This is about translating strategy into concrete action while laying the foundation for the business to grow and expand into more countries and recruit more colleagues.
You easily see the bigger picture in complex business challenges and can translate them into clear customer value and commercial opportunities. Building long-term partnerships with customers and partners comes naturally to you, and you move effortlessly between building new contacts and driving sales, both directly and through resellers and channels.
You speak and write fluently in both English and German, and if you also know French, that is an advantage. You are inspired by technical and sustainability-related topics, and while you do not need to be an engineer, you should be comfortable discussing system architecture and data-driven solutions.
Willingness to travel extensively (about 75 days per year) and spend time at our R&D center; for the first year, two days per week in Linköping are expected, or you can already have your base in the Hamburg region.
