Head of Accounting and Tax, St1 Biokraft AB  

  Are you an experienced accounting leader with deep expertise in accounting, taxation, and financial compliance? Are you ready to take on a hands-on role while driving strategic improvements to create a world-class financial organization? St1 Biokraft is looking for a Head of Accounting and Tax to lead, develop, and elevate our accounting and tax functions to excellence during an exciting period of transformation and growth.   

About St1 Biokraft and the Role: 
St1 Biokraft is undergoing an exciting transformation under new ownership (St1, HitecVision, and Aneo) and is setting the foundation for ambitious growth goals, including >EUR 200M Annual EBITDA and 50% market share in Nordic biogas sales by 2030. As Head of Accounting and Tax, you will lead a team of 9 direct reports and oversee the group’s consolidated accounts, while ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulations. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and improving the accounting organization, optimizing processes, and driving efficiency and automation.   

Reporting directly to the CFO and being part of the CFO’s leadership team, you will be responsible for steering the organization’s financial operations to excellence while balancing strategic leadership with hands-on involvement.   

Key Responsibilities: 

• Financial Reporting and Consolidation: Lead the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all St1 Biokraft entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local GAAP. Handle complex accounting matters and ensure timely and accurate reporting. 

• Accounting Policies and Controls: Develop and maintain accounting principles, a finance handbook, and procedures to support accurate reporting and internal controls. 

• Operational Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of shared accounting services and subsidiary accounting departments. 

• Audit and Compliance: Collaborate with external auditors to lead the audit process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, tax filings, and statutory reporting. 

• Process Improvement: Drive lean processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement efficient systems to enhance reporting accuracy and automation. 

• System Implementation: Lead the implementation and improvement of financial systems to support the company’s growth and evolving needs. 

• Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with excise duties, tax filings, and legislation while optimizing tax strategies. 

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to optimize financial reporting and align processes with company objectives. 

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 9 accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous development. 

• Strategic Oversight: Support the CFO in coordinating the Audit Committee process and managing the company’s insurance processes. 

Who We’re Looking For: 

We are seeking an experienced and driven leader who has: 

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certifications are a plus. 

• Around 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior leadership role within a global or production-focused organization. 

• Deep expertise in IFRS and local accounting regulations, with experience managing outsourced accounting teams and third-party service providers. 

• Proven experience in driving process improvements and implementing efficient, automated financial systems. 

• A hands-on approach, with the ability to balance strategic oversight with operational involvement. 

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams. 

• Fluency in Swedish and English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• A commercial mindset and the ability to align accounting processes with the company’s broader business goals. 

• Proactivity, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
